Build important workplace skills in customer service, office communication, project management, computer technology, and more to strengthen your résumé and set you apart from other candidates for future college and job applications.
STEP-UP Chattanooga is for Hamilton County public school students in grades 10 - 12.
How Does STEP-UP Work?
APPLY - Apply online. Our 2021-2022 application will go live in September. The application will remain open until we reach capacity. Please sign up early for training dates.
GET TRAINED - Participate in one mandatory work-readiness and soft skills training. (Dec. - Feb)
GET MATCHED - You will be matched with an employer based on your skills, interests, and aptitude. (March)
INTERVIEW & GET HIRED - Interview with the employer you were matched to. We guarantee an interview, but not every student will be hired. (March-April)
GET TO WORK - Work at your summer job from June to early August.
STAY CONNECTED - Participate in additional STEP-UP leadership and career focused events.

When applying you will need to have an email address, know your mailing address, cell number, parent email, and parent/guardian cell number.
Write down your work readiness training date when applying for
STEP-UP. Save the date in your phone.
On the application, you will be asked to write a short essay on"Why I Want to Participate in STEP-UP Chattanooga."
